Anthony Kavouklis
Anthony Kavouklis, 10, was called up on stage by blues legend Buddy Guy during his concert at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Gainesville, FL last week. After playing with Guy, Anthony received a standing ovation. Who was that kid? When 10-year-old Anthony Kavouklis of Micanopy stepped onto the Phillips Center stage to trade guitar licks with blues legend Buddy Guy, he was an unknown to most of those who came to enjoy a night of music. By the time he finished jamming on "Voodoo Child," he was the answer to the most asked question in the lobby, "Who was that kid?" Guy, a master of the blues guitar and a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, wowed the crowd last Thursday and brought the concert to his fans, playing as he strolled the aisle of the University of Florida's Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. But when he returned to the stage he had some company, a young boy wearing blue jeans, a red T-shirt and hair style of early Beatles.

Haley Crouch
If you don't already know, my name is Haley Crouch. I'm 16 years old, and play the blues harmonica, with a hint of classic rock. I live in Streator, born and raised. When I was nine years old, a family friend David Musil, showed me my first song on the harmonica, Mary Had a Little Lamb. It all started from there. After playing songs like that for about a year, Dave bought me my first blues album, which happened to be one of the greatest blues players of all time, Sonny Boy Williamson. I started playing songs from that album by ear, just playing notes over and over until they were right. From that one abum, my love for the blues grew. I continued to play along with many CDs, such as Junior Wells, Rod Piazza, and Cephas and Wiggins. By the time my family and I went to the Miller Lite Illinois Blues fest in Peoria when I was about 13, I was already on my way to becoming a great player. At this blues fest I met two men from the band Cobalt Canopy.

Sean Hickey
“I can play bass” The four little words that started it all. Unfortunately, at age 11, Sean didn’t exactly KNOW how to play the bass when he volunteered to be part of the back-up band for his elementary schools spring musical. Within three short weeks, Sean had diligently worked to master the basics of bass playing and the rest is history. The bass guitar proved to be Sean’s natural fit. By the age of 12, Sean’s performance resume included a special feature on local Charlotte Fox TV affiliate for the “Blues, Brews and BBQ” Festival as well as gigs other gigs in the area. As a member of Jake Haldenwang’s Blues Brew, Sean has performed in-studio on the Smokin’ Bluz Radio Program as well as a showcase at the famous Double Door Inn. The set performed by the band at the IBC Youth Showcase at Club 152 left the crowd screaming for more.
